Keep in mind that their reputation is based upon what they publish as a result of contest entries. So, if they extend the deadline in order to obtain better material, is that so wrong? However, if I had entered on time and saw an extended deadline, admittedly, I would interpret that as my work not being acceptable enough. Professionally, however, I see this as the contest not being organized enough to get the word out properly. Just my two cents.

Bummed that you missed the submission deadline for the Student T-shirt Design contest? Not to worry! The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is extending the deadline to 1 September, the same deadline as the Student Video Contest. Both contests are open to AGU student members, and winners of both contests receive free student registration to the 2015 Fall Meeting.
The contest is open to all Wisconsin middle and high school students, including home-schooled students. Essays and cartoons should focus on the importance of the First Amendment. Students are encouraged to draw from personal experiences, current events and historical examples.
First-place winners in each contest will receive $500, second-place winners will receive $250, third-place winners will receive $100 and honorable mention recipients will receive $50. Winning entries also will be published in newspapers across the state.

The deadline for the RethinkWaste annual Trash to Art contest has been extended to May 8 at noon. The contest promotes creating art by using materials that are otherwise disposed of or recycled. Violence Prevention Grey Bruce has extended the deadline for submissions to the Art for Change Contest. The contest invites students in grades seven through twelve to create art about healthy and unhealthy relationships. The top three submissions in each category will receive cash prizes at an awards ceremony in Owen Sound.
The new contest deadline is April 3rd with the awards ceremony tentatively scheduled for April 30th.
